The album «alpha»
In summer 2020 The Stone Alphabet have recorded an extensive series of pieces and have released a selection of them on their first recording “alpha”. The sequence of 14 “takes” in changing instrumentation (duos, trios, quartets and quintets) is composed as a cycle. The focus is put on many different stone instruments, which are brought to the forefront through different contextualities. All compositions have been written by the participating musicians and the titles of the compositions refer to names of stones in alphabetical order.

The ”Alpha Stone”
The Stone Alphabet have decided not release their music on a CD or LP. Conceptually more sensible, completely committed to their extraordinary sound universe, they have chosen simply a stone as the sound recording medium.
Each stone is unique and carefully chiselled with an “alpha” sign carved by hand by the artist Bertha Shortiss. An alpha stone fits on any CD shelf and is a very nice exhibition object (Size minimum approx. 9cm x 8cm/ maximum approx. 14cm x 12cm) as well. The stones are numbered and available in a limited edition (100 copies). In order to purchase a stone, please write an e-mail to: adesso@bluewin.ch.
